Proclamation of Drumraney N.S. 2016
Irish children, women and men, as we raise our Irish flag today we look to the past to inspire us in our future ahead.
We hope for a country where all people are equal, where all men women and children have the basic rights of food and a home, where homelessness is a word and not a reality for people.
We will look towards a future where regardless of the colour of your skin your beliefs or culture that you are treated with respect and dignity.
We dream of a time ahead when our economy will be strong, allowing everyone to have a job.
We look to our government to help people affected by flooding and support them in building defences and restoring them to their homes.
We ask for a time when everyone regardless of ability is welcomed into education and employment.
We celebrate everything that is good in our nation: our well educated students, our sports people, our writers and poets, our musicians, our artists, our mammies, daddies and families.
We give our support to our friends in other countries, those affected by war and violence that peace and unity will come to them.
We look towards a time when there is no violence in our own country and that people talk to resolve their problems.
We echo the Proclamation read in 1916, a country that guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation”
