Active School Flag

What is an Active School Flag?

Active-School-Flag
The Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education and Skills initiative, supported by Healthy Ireland, which aims to get more schools, more active, more often. The flag is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community.
Over the last few years, we have been working towards our ASF application by encouraging the whole school to get more active during the school day. As with anything we do here in Drumraney N.S., there has always been a great emphasis on fun and inclusion!
Our ASF application began with the process of self-evaluating our current provision across three areas: Physical Education, Physical Activity and Partnerships. We joined forces with a number of sporting and fitness organisations in order to provide the children with plenty of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of physical activities during schooltime. We also organised an Active School Week with a full programme of events and activities.
We have little doubt but that we have successfully fulfilled all the criteria for the ASF so we look forward to being awarded with our very own Active School Flag before too long!
