There was great excitement in Drumraney N.S. on Friday when MEP, Mairead McGuinness, visited our school as part of the Blue Star programme and award. The Blue Star Programme is an education initiative for primary school students across Ireland. The idea of the programme is to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union and how it can affect the lives of Irish citizens.
The Blue Star award was only one small part of the celebrations of the day. We were also commending the children on some of their other achievements of this school year; our Green Flag for Biodiversity, our Plaque of STEM Excellence from Discover Science & Maths AND our Digital School of Distinction Award, to name but a few!
We also had the official opening of our spectacular ‘Seomra Glas’ or outdoor classroom.
An incredible amount of time and hard work went into this project and the staff and children of Drumraney N.S. would like to thank everyone involved – you know who you are!
We cannot thank you enough for giving us this amazing teaching and learning space.
